$375K Auto Scam Uncovered: 7 Charged in GTA Dealership Fraud

Seven individuals from across the Greater Toronto Area have been charged, and two more are wanted, in connection with a $375,000 vehicle fraud scheme involving a Mississauga dealership. Peel Regional Police allege that 10 cars were fraudulently obtained between January 30 and February 27, with the help of a dealership employee who used his position to facilitate the transactions.

According to investigators, the accused sales associate worked with multiple parties to orchestrate the purchase of a range of cars and SUVs using forged documents and false identities. Police intercepted the vehicles before they could be shipped out of the country and recovered them within Ontario.

The investigation led to an initial arrest on April 29, followed by six more in the days that followed. Among those charged is Ankur Bhatiani, 42, of Oakville, who faces charges of fraud over $5,000, use of forged documents, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Also charged with fraud over $5,000 are Vialis-Aramis Curt, 30, and Andreea Gabriela Pisla, 25, both of Brampton; Andreea Olivia Paulet, 24, of Richmond Hill; Daiana Ionela Necula, 25, of Scarborough; Ion Cristea, 40, of Toronto; and Ilarion Rupita, 34, of Oshawa. All seven accused have been released and are scheduled to appear in Brampton court at a later date.

Police have issued arrest warrants for two more suspects: Cristian Filip, 34, and Rafael Gabriel Chirita, 22, both wanted for fraud over $5,000 and uttering forged documents. Authorities have not disclosed their places of residence.

Peel police said in a statement that fraudulently obtained vehicles represent a growing form of organized auto theft in the region. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Peel police at 905-453-3311, ext. 3335, or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
