OPP Investigating Possible Medical Event Prior to Collision
A 52-year-old man from Acton has died following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga Monday evening.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the collision occurred around 6:30 PM in the westbound lanes near Dixie Road.
According to investigators, a single vehicle collided with three others on the highway.
Peel Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital in life-threatening condition, and initial reports suggested he may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.
Later, OPP confirmed that the man had succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities are now investigating whether a medical event contributed to the fatal crash.
All affected lanes were expected to reopen before 10 PM Monday night.
Mississauga OPP urges anyone with dashcam footage or information about the incident to come forward.
