Sophie Grégoire Trudeau Gets Candid About Co-Parenting, Public Scrutiny, and Justin Trudeau’s Rumoured Romance with Katy Perry

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau is opening up about life after her split from former prime minister Justin Trudeau, reflecting on co-parenting, emotional resilience, and the challenges of living in the public eye — including Trudeau’s highly publicized interactions with pop superstar Katy Perry.

Speaking on the Arlene is Alone podcast with author and TV personality Arlene Dickinson, Grégoire Trudeau emphasized that even after their 2023 separation, she and Justin Trudeau remain deeply connected as parents to their three children: Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien.

“I’m definitely not a single mom,” she said, describing Justin Trudeau as a present and loving father. Despite no longer sharing a home, she explained that they maintain constant communication — calling, texting, and updating each other to ensure stability and unity for their children. “We have separate lives but we have one family life,” she said, calling that shared commitment their “greatest creation.”

Grégoire Trudeau also reflected on the toll that political life took on their family, speaking about the long absences, the scrutiny, the psychological pressure, and the safety concerns that impacted them throughout Trudeau’s years in office. “In politics, everything changes,” she noted, adding that families of public figures must learn to navigate the intense stress of public service together.

The conversation also touched on Justin Trudeau’s widely discussed outings with singer Katy Perry, which have made headlines after the pair were spotted dining together several times. Grégoire Trudeau did not comment directly on the relationship but acknowledged how emotionally challenging public speculation can be.

“We’re human beings and stuff affects us,” she said. “How you react to stuff is your decision.” Describing herself as “super-tender hearted,” she said she allows herself to feel emotions fully — disappointment, anger, sadness — because acknowledging them is essential for mental well-being.

Ultimately, she said her priority remains caring for herself and showing up as the best parent she can be. “At the end of the day, when you go to bed, you ask: What did I do in this case to take care of myself? And to be my best parent?”

Her honesty offered a rare, grounded look into the private world behind public headlines — one shaped by compassion, commitment, and resilience.
