“OK With Me”: Trump’s Shock Comment on Striking Mexico Fuels Global Alarm

U.S. President Donald Trump has ignited international concern after suggesting he would support launching strikes against drug-manufacturing sites in Mexico, saying he was open to “whatever we have to do to stop drugs” during remarks at the White House on Monday.

Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump emphasized that his administration is already escalating its efforts to combat narcotics trafficking. He has authorized more aggressive maritime interdictions and expanded the powers of U.S. forces to disable or even sink vessels suspected of carrying illegal drugs.

When asked whether he supported similar action on land — including possible military strikes inside Mexico — Trump did not hesitate. “OK with me, whatever we have to do to stop drugs,” he said, drawing immediate attention for what appeared to be one of his most direct acknowledgements yet of the idea of using force across the border.

He later broadened his comments to include drug-producing regions in Colombia, raising the prospect of targeting cocaine laboratories. “Would I knock out those factories? I would be proud to do it personally,” Trump remarked. “I didn’t say I’m doing it, but I would be proud to do it because we’re going to save millions of lives.”

While he stopped short of announcing any concrete military plans, the remarks marked a significant escalation in rhetoric and signalled a readiness to take unprecedented action against international drug operations.

The comments quickly reverberated through diplomatic and political circles, raising questions about cross-border relations, sovereignty, and the dangerous precedent such military action could set.
