City of Brampton Launches Third Year of Shared E-scooter Pilot Program

The City of Brampton is kicking off the third year of its successful Shared E-scooter Pilot Program, continuing to provide residents and visitors with a convenient, affordable, and sustainable way to travel across the city. Since its launch in 2023, the pilot has played a key role in transforming local transportation and advancing Brampton’s climate and mobility goals.

A cornerstone of the City’s Active Transportation Master Plan and its long-term 2040 Vision, the Shared E-scooter Pilot Program encourages walking, cycling, and transit use by reducing reliance on single-occupant vehicle trips. With up to 900 shared e-scooters deployed annually in partnership with Neuron, Bird Canada, and SCOOTY, the program continues to support Brampton’s commitment to building a more connected and environmentally conscious community.

Key highlights from the first two seasons include:

  • Up to 900 e-scooters deployed citywide
  • 348,000+ trips taken
  • Over 2.9 million kilometres travelled
  • An estimated 71 to 98 tons of carbon emissions reduced

This season, residents can once again expect a hybrid parking model, which blends designated scooter parking areas with flexible free-floating zones. In-app technology ensures responsible parking, prompting riders to return scooters to approved locations in high-traffic areas to maintain accessibility and safety on sidewalks and shared paths.

“The return of our Shared E-scooter Pilot Program for a third year speaks to its growing popularity and impact,” said Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton. “Brampton is proud to lead the way in embracing innovative, sustainable transportation options that make it easier for people to move around our city. Whether commuting to work, connecting to transit, or exploring local neighbourhoods, e-scooters offer a convenient and eco-friendly way to get where they need to go.”

“Shared e-scooters have become a key part of our active transportation network,” said Regional Councillor Paul Vicente. “This program aligns with our vision for a healthier, more accessible city while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting first- and last-mile transit connections.”

“We’ve seen strong uptake of the program and positive feedback from users across Brampton,” added Councillor Rod Power. “The e-scooter pilot is a great example of how we’re building a modern, forward-looking city that offers smart transportation choices for everyone.”

The City invites residents to help shape the future of active transportation in Brampton by sharing feedback on the program. Input can be submitted by emailing escooters@brampton.ca or calling 311.
