Olivier Rioux, the world’s tallest teenager, made his first collegiate field goal in unforgettable fashion — with a thunderous dunk that electrified the crowd in Florida’s 102–61 win over Saint Francis.
The seven-foot-nine centre from Terrebonne, Que., barely had to leave the floor as he caught a bounce pass and slammed it home, sending Florida’s bench and fans into a frenzy during the second half. The moment came after supporters chanted “We want Ollie,” prompting coach Todd Golden to put Rioux into the game late.
Rioux, a 19-year-old redshirt freshman, became the tallest player ever to appear in NCAA basketball when he debuted earlier this season. While his minutes are limited due to stamina, his size makes him a unique challenge for opponents. The dunk marked his first true basket after earlier scoring his first point at the free-throw line.
Already a Guinness World Record holder and viral sensation, Rioux continues to draw attention wherever he goes — and with his first emphatic dunk, he gave fans a glimpse of just how impactful his presence can be, even in limited time.
