2 Brampton Men Charged in $300K LCBO Theft Ring Across Southern Ontario

Brampton, June 18, 2025 – Peel Regional Police have charged two Brampton residents in connection with a coordinated retail theft ring that allegedly targeted LCBO stores across the Greater Toronto Area and southwestern Ontario, resulting in estimated losses of $300,000.

According to police, the suspects – Anuj Kumar, 25, and Simarpreet Singh, 29 – face a combined total of 35 criminal charges related to theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and drug offences. The investigation, led by the 21 Division Community Intervention Response Team, revealed that the thefts were highly organized and primarily focused on liquor outlets in Peel Region, particularly in Brampton.

“This particular theft ring targeted primarily LCBO locations in the Region of Peel,” said Constable Mandeep Khatra in a statement to CP24. “Most locations were targeted numerous times, particularly in the Brampton area.”

Authorities noted that locations in York Region, Toronto, and southwestern Ontario were also affected. The full extent of the operation remains under investigation, with police unable to determine the total number of stores targeted due to the volume and frequency of the thefts.

Anuj Kumar is alleged to be the principal suspect responsible for a significant portion of the thefts, while Simarpreet Singh is accused of being a key accomplice in the coordinated criminal activity.

Disturbingly, both men were already out on bail for similar offences at the time of their arrests in this latest investigation.

Peel police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges may be forthcoming.

Anyone with further information related to the case is urged to contact Peel Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
