BRAMPTON — The City of Brampton will celebrate its growing soccer legacy on Sunday, Sept. 27, by naming six sports fields after Brampton-connected Canadian soccer players and presenting the Key to the City to Cyle Larin.
The celebrations will recognize Cyle Larin, Tajon Buchanan, Jonathan Osorio, Liam Millar, Promise David and Jayden Nelson, who represented Canada’s Men’s National Soccer Team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The field-naming ceremony will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Morris Kerbel Park, 292 Conestoga Dr. Mayor Patrick Brown will deliver remarks, with player appearances also planned. Canadian sports broadcaster Rod Black will serve as emcee.
The celebration will then move to Brampton City Hall, where Larin, a Brampton native and professional soccer player, will receive the Key to the City — one of the municipality’s highest honours.
The ceremony, scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., will include remarks from Mayor Brown, the formal presentation of the Key and an acceptance speech from Larin.
The events recognize Brampton’s significant contribution to Canadian soccer and the achievements of players with strong connections to the city who have represented Canada on the international stage.
Free parking will be available at the park and recreation centre complex for the field-naming ceremony and at the City Hall parking garage for the evening event.
