Brampton is gearing up to welcome spring with the 13th annual Seedy Saturday and Garden Show, a free celebration of all things green. Mark your calendars for March 8, when the event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Century Gardens Recreation Centre, located at 340 Vodden St. E.
Hosted by the Brampton Horticultural Society in partnership with the City of Brampton, this beloved gathering aims to nurture the city’s gardening community. “This event is a highlight for gardeners of every skill level—a chance to swap ideas, pick up new skills, and revel in the excitement of the growing season,” said Karolina Marques, president of the Brampton Horticultural Society, in an email to the Brampton Guardian.
Marques highlighted the event’s warm, welcoming vibe. “It’s a joy to see returning friends and meet newcomers eager to dig into gardening. Our volunteers pour their hearts into making this day special, and their efforts truly make it bloom.” She urged locals to drop by, mingle with fellow plant lovers, and kick off the season with fresh inspiration.
According to a city news release, the Garden Show promises a fun, family-oriented day packed with opportunities to boost your gardening know-how. Attendees can look forward to expert talks from sustainable landscaping guru Sean James and horticulture expert Stephen Biggs, plus seed exchanges, local vendor stalls, refreshments, and hands-on kids’ activities.
Mayor Patrick Brown emphasized the event’s broader impact. “From Seedy Saturday to our Backyard Garden Program, we’re committed to fostering outdoor fun, eco-friendly habits, and stronger community ties,” he said in the release. “It’s a perfect chance for residents to get outside, grow their own food, and enjoy gardening’s rewards. I hope everyone comes out to explore the resources and start—or level up—their gardening game.”
