Community Raises $2.45M to Support Brampton’s New Peel Memorial Hospital at Centennial Gala

Brampton’s Peel Memorial Centre received a landmark 100th-anniversary gift as the community came together to raise $2.45 million at a gala celebrating the hospital’s century of service. The funds will support Peel Memorial’s ongoing transformation into Brampton’s long-awaited second full-service hospital.

The Next 100 gala, held on Nov. 22 and hosted by comedian Jessica Holmes, brought together community leaders, donors and dignitaries for a black-tie evening featuring performances by iconic ’80s groups Naked Eyes and Men Without Hats. The total also included $1.8 million contributed this year by members of the hospital’s Centenary Circle program.

In a release, William Osler Health System president and CEO Dr. Frank Martino said the support will accelerate Peel Memorial’s expansion, which includes new inpatient beds, a 24-hour emergency department and enhanced outpatient programs. “Together, we are transforming Peel Memorial into a next-generation hospital that will serve our community with excellence for years to come,” he said. “These funds will help expand programs, address the significant need for more specialized care, and support a growing population.”

The gala came shortly after another major milestone: Infrastructure Ontario and William Osler Health System recently signed a development-phase agreement with Bird Design-Build Construction to advance design, planning and pricing for the new hospital.

Originally opened in 1925 as a 12-bed facility serving just 3,000 residents, Peel Memorial is now part of the broader William Osler Health System alongside Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital. As it begins its next century, Osler Foundation is inviting community members to learn more or contribute at peelmemorial100.ca.
