In response to widespread rumors and misinformation, the Fresno Police Department has confirmed that the man killed in a recent shooting in Fresno, California, was not the fugitive gangster Goldy Brar. The confusion began following a violent altercation at the intersection of Fairmont and Holt Avenue in Fresno, where two men were shot, one fatally. The victim of the shooting has been identified as 37-year-old Xavier Galdney.
Social media speculation had incorrectly identified the deceased as Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster implicated in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. This led to numerous inquiries to the Fresno police from international media and the public. Lieutenant William J. Dooley clarified the situation, stating, “If you are inquiring because of the online chatter claiming that the shooting victim is ‘Goldy Brar’, we can confirm that this is absolutely not true.”
The police emphasized that the spread of false information had caused unnecessary confusion and assured the public that the rumors were baseless. “We have received inquiries from around the world this morning as a result of misinformation being spread on social media and online news agencies,” Lt. Dooley added, urging people to refrain from spreading unverified information.
Goldy Brar, whose real name is Satinderjit Singh, remains a highly sought-after criminal, named a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, with both an Interpol Red Corner Notice and a non-bailable warrant against him. Brar gained notoriety after claiming responsibility for the assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala in May 2022.
