York Police Warn of Possible Additional Victims
A Toronto man and a Vancouver woman are facing serious charges after allegedly robbing a victim at knife-point during a staged sexual encounter in Vaughan.
According to York Regional Police (YRP), officers responded to a robbery report on January 19 at 9:30 AM near Major Mackenzie Drive West and Jane Street.
Alleged Robbery Scheme
Investigators say the victim had arranged to meet the suspects for a sexual encounter and entered their vehicle to discuss the transaction. At that point, the female suspect allegedly brandished a knife, threatening the victim and forcing him to hand over his banking information.
The male suspect then drove the victim to multiple ATMs, compelling him to withdraw money before eventually releasing him.
YRP has identified the suspects as:
- Mannan Khanna, 22, of Toronto, charged with armed robbery and forcible confinement.
- Jessica Kane, 32, of Vancouver, charged with armed robbery, forcible confinement, and three counts of breaching probation.
Police revealed that Kane was already wanted in Alberta and was on probation for unrelated charges at the time of the incident.
Authorities have released photos of the suspects and believe they may have targeted additional victims across Canada. They are urging anyone with information or who may have fallen victim to similar incidents to come forward.
Anyone with details is asked to contact York Regional Police or provide anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers.
