Socomec Opens Largest Canadian Manufacturing Facility in Brampton, Creating 170 New Jobs

The City of Brampton celebrated the grand opening of Socomec Canada’s largest manufacturing facility in the country, marking another major investment in Brampton’s growing advanced manufacturing sector.

City officials joined company representatives Thursday to officially open the new 148,000-square-foot facility located at 201 Westcreek Blvd., which is expected to create 170 new jobs in Brampton.

The facility is Socomec Canada’s third location in Brampton and expands the company’s local workforce to more than 500 employees across its city operations.

The company manufactures high-efficiency transformers and Power Distribution Units (PDUs), technologies used in data centres, hospitals and other critical infrastructure requiring reliable energy systems.

City officials said the expansion strengthens Brampton’s role in advanced manufacturing, energy infrastructure and the rapidly growing data centre supply chain.

Patrick Brown said the investment demonstrates growing confidence in Brampton as a destination for global companies seeking to expand operations.

“Socomec Canada’s expansion is a powerful example of how global companies are choosing Brampton to grow and invest,” Brown said. “This new facility is creating quality jobs, strengthening our advanced manufacturing sector and supporting the infrastructure behind today’s digital economy.”

Gurpartap Singh Toor, chair of the city’s Economic Development committee, said the investment further reinforces Brampton’s reputation as a leader in advanced manufacturing.

“Socomec’s growth not only supports job creation but also strengthens our local supply chain and contributes to a more resilient and future-ready economy,” Toor said.

Rowena Santos, vice-chair of Economic Development, highlighted the importance of connecting residents to opportunities in emerging industries.

“Socomec Canada’s continued investment in Brampton speaks to the strength of our local workforce and the opportunities available within our innovation ecosystem,” Santos said. “Expansions like this help connect residents to good jobs while supporting the growth of industries that are shaping the future of our economy.”

According to the city, Socomec’s technologies also align with Brampton’s climate and energy goals by helping reduce energy waste and improve efficiency in major facilities.

Jean Guay said the expansion responds directly to increasing demand from the fast-growing data infrastructure sector.

“The Brampton site is a direct answer to the rapid growth in data centre demand by bringing critical power manufacturing closer to where it’s needed,” Guay said.

Earlier this year, Socomec Canada was recognized during Brampton’s 2026 State of the City address as one of 10 companies honoured for significant business expansion and economic contribution.

The company also operates facilities on Airport Road and Parkshore Drive in Brampton.
