Red, White and Smiles: Flower City Friends Club Hosts Spectacular Canada Day Celebration

Brampton, Ontario | July 12, 2026-Flower City Friends Club (FCFC) celebrated Canada’s 159th Birthday with great enthusiasm, pride, and community spirit on July 12, 2026, at the Paul Palleschi Recreation Centre, Brampton. More than 100 members participated in the colourful celebration, with men and women dressed in vibrant red and white, creating a spectacular display of Canadian pride and unity.

The celebration was inaugurated by Gian Paul, Chairperson of Flower City Friends Club, who warmly welcomed the members and guests. In his address, he reflected on Canada’s values of diversity, inclusion, freedom, and opportunity.

“Canada is a country that welcomes everyone with dignity and respect. Today we celebrate not only Canada’s birthday but also the friendships, volunteer spirit, and togetherness that make our club a strong family. Flower City Friends Club belongs to its members, and together we will continue building an active, healthy, and caring community for our seniors,” said Gian Paul.

The event was professionally hosted by Jyoti Dadiala whose energetic and engaging style kept the audience entertained throughout the afternoon.

The cultural program featured colourful solo dances, group dance performances, songs, and musical presentations, with members showcasing their remarkable talent and enthusiasm. Traditional Giddha and Bhangra performances filled the hall with excitement, and many members joined the dance floor in celebration. Member of Parliament Amandeep Sodhi also enthusiastically participated in the Giddha, delighting the audience and adding to the festive atmosphere.

The Chief Guest of Honour, MP Amandeep Sodhi (Brampton Centre), congratulated the Club for organizing such a vibrant celebration and praised the contribution of seniors to Canadian society.

“Canada’s greatest strength is its diversity and the spirit of people who build stronger communities through volunteerism and mutual respect. Flower City Friends Club is a wonderful example of bringing seniors together, promoting active living, preserving culture, and creating meaningful social connections. I am honoured to celebrate Canada Day with all of you,” she said.

Also gracing the occasion was Regional Councillor Paul Vicente (Wards 1 & 5, Brampton), who commended the Club’s leadership and community service.

“The City of Brampton values organizations like Flower City Friends Club that keep our seniors active, healthy, and socially connected. Strong partnerships between municipal, provincial, and federal governments, together with dedicated community organizations, help build stronger neighbourhoods. Seniors have played a vital role in building Canada, and their continued leadership and volunteerism remain invaluable,” said Councillor Vicente.

The celebration also included an exciting Bingo session, which generated tremendous participation and laughter among members.

Guests enjoyed an excellent lunch, followed by a delicious selection of traditional refreshments that added to the festive atmosphere.

A special highlight of the afternoon was the birthday celebration for members born in June and July, where everyone joined in singing and celebrating their special occasions.

The Club also honoured Bhupinderpal Singh Dang and Kawaljit Dang on the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The couple received a special gift from the members along with a commemorative certificate in recognition of their lifelong commitment, love, and dedication to family and community. The audience responded with a standing ovation and heartfelt congratulations.

In his closing remarks, Gian Paul thanked all volunteers, performers, sponsors, committee members, guests, and participants for making the event a memorable success.

“The success of our Club belongs to every member who volunteers, participates, and supports our activities. Today’s celebration reflects the strength of our community spirit. We look forward to welcoming everyone again at our upcoming Tiyan Da Mela and our Street Party BBQ, where we will continue creating memorable experiences for our members,” he said.

The Canada Day celebration once again demonstrated Flower City Friends Club’s commitment to promoting active living, cultural heritage, volunteerism, friendship, and healthy social engagement among seniors while celebrating the values that make Canada one of the world’s most welcoming and inclusive nations.
