Mail theft is a serious crime that can lead to identity theft, financial fraud, and other forms of exploitation. Criminals often target mailboxes to steal sensitive documents, such as bank statements, credit card offers, and government-issued identification, which can be used to commit fraud.

To reduce the risk of mail theft, residents are encouraged to:

  • Collect mail promptly after delivery.
  • Use a locked mailbox or a post office box for sensitive mail.
  • Shred documents containing personal information before disposing of them.
  • Monitor bank accounts and credit reports regularly for suspicious activity.

The York Regional Police continue to investigate the case and are working to identify additional victims. Wang is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face the charges.
