People Against Littering (P.A.L.) Announces Community Cleanup Event at Lakeland Village Park Area

The People Against Littering (P.A.L.), a passionate grassroots organization dedicated to environmental stewardship, is excited to announce an upcoming community cleanup event at Lakeland Village Park Area. Scheduled for Sunday, March 30, 2025, this initiative invites residents of all ages to come together to preserve the beauty and cleanliness of their local park and surrounding neighborhood. With a start time of 10:00 AM, the event promises to be a meaningful opportunity for community bonding and collective action.

The cleanup will take place at the south end of Lakeland Village Park Area, near the children’s playground, directly across from 13 Deep Sea Dr. St. Participants can expect a well-organized effort, with P.A.L. supplying essential equipment such as litter pickers, gloves, and garbage bags to ensure everyone can contribute effectively. Parking is available along Deep Sea Dr. and nearby streets, though attendees should note that the park itself lacks a dedicated parking lot.

P.A.L. is calling on families, friends, and neighbors to join in this vital effort to maintain a pristine environment. “This is about more than just picking up litter—it’s about taking pride in our shared spaces and ensuring they remain welcoming for everyone,” said a P.A.L. spokesperson. The event is designed to be family-friendly, encouraging parents to bring their children to participate in a hands-on lesson in environmental care.

Regional Councillor Rowena Santos, a long-standing champion of P.A.L.’s mission, expressed her enthusiasm for the event. “I’m incredibly proud to support P.A.L.’s tireless efforts to keep Brampton clean,” she said. “Their dedication inspires us all. I’ve made it a tradition to join their cleanups each year, and I encourage every resident to get involved. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change and show our kids the power of collective responsibility.”

Bill Godfrey, P.A.L.’s founder and president, echoed Santos’s sentiments, highlighting the organization’s broader vision. “We want to ignite a movement—thousands of people standing united, saying, ‘Enough is enough.’ Litter doesn’t belong in our neighborhoods, and we’re here to eradicate it,” Godfrey explained. “If each of us commits just five minutes a week, the impact would be staggering. I used to tackle hundreds of pieces of litter solo, but I’ve learned that inviting others to help is the real game-changer. Cleaning up with kind, like-minded people feels like building a family—one that’s stronger, safer, and more united.”

The event’s co-hosts, Ashwin Puri and Gian Paul, added their perspectives on its significance. “This cleanup isn’t just about removing trash—it’s about setting a new standard,” Puri said. “We’re working toward a community where littering becomes unthinkable, and together, we can make Lakeland Village a shining example of that vision.” Paul emphasized the educational angle: “Getting the community involved, especially our kids, is crucial. This is a chance to lead by example and instill a lifelong respect for our environment. Let’s make our park a place we’re all proud to enjoy.”

P.A.L. advises participants to come prepared with weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy, comfortable shoes, as the cleanup will proceed rain or shine. Safety is a top priority, and all attendees will be required to adhere to P.A.L.’s safety guidelines, which will be provided on-site. Additionally, participants must review and sign a liability waiver and safety recommendations before joining the effort—a standard measure to ensure a smooth and secure experience for everyone.

The organization stresses that every pair of hands makes a difference. “Your participation is what keeps our environment thriving,” Godfrey noted. “We’re counting on you to help us transform Lakeland Village Park Area into a cleaner, more vibrant space.”
