Major delays at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga

Passengers flying out of Toronto Pearson International Airport today are being urged to check their flight status before heading to the airport, as significant snowfall has caused major flight delays and cancellations.

According to Toronto Pearson officials, the airport received 15 cm of snow overnight, making it the largest snowfall of the season so far.

As of Sunday morning, FlightAware.com, a real-time flight tracking service, has recorded:
131 flight delays
39 cancellations
43-minute average departure delays

Out of these, 43 delays and 24 cancellations involve flights within, into, or out of the United States.

Toronto Pearson Airport has deployed 175 airfield maintenance specialists equipped with specialized snow removal vehicles to keep runways operational. Despite their efforts, some flights remain impacted.

“So far, our crews have cleared 10 cm of snow across 4.2 million square meters of airfield,” Pearson Airport officials stated on social media.

  • Environment Canada predicts an additional 2 cm of snow before tapering off into flurries later today.
  • Hamilton and Halton regions could see up to 20 cm of snow by the end of the storm.

Check flight status before leaving for the airport.
Arrive early to allow extra time for possible delays at check-in and security.
Monitor Toronto Pearson’s website and FlightAware.com for real-time updates.

While most flights are expected to resume normal operations once the snowfall clears, travellers should stay prepared for potential further disruptions throughout the day.
