Holiday Window Displays Return to Former Hudson’s Bay Building in Downtown Toronto

The iconic holiday windows once synonymous with Hudson’s Bay are making a comeback this season — but without the Hudson’s Bay Company behind them. Cadillac Fairview, owner of the CF Toronto Eaton Centre, has announced it will revive the beloved window tradition at the former Bay building “to honour a cherished Toronto tradition.”

With Hudson’s Bay closing its remaining six stores on June 1, including the flagship Eaton Centre location, Cadillac Fairview says it wants to ensure the prominent corner of Yonge and Queen remains a festive and vibrant destination. The new holiday displays will be unveiled on December 14 and remain in place through the new year.

Once the seasonal installations are removed, Cadillac Fairview plans to transform the building’s exterior windows into a permanent experiential marketing platform. The company says the high-profile space will be available year-round for major brands, cultural institutions and charitable organizations seeking impactful visual displays.

Cadillac Fairview confirmed that one major brand has already secured the Yonge Street windows for the 2025 holiday season, while display opportunities remain open along Bay Street and Richmond Street for additional partners.

The return of the holiday windows marks a nostalgic moment for many Torontonians who grew up visiting the intricate displays that animated the Hudson’s Bay storefront each winter — a tradition the property owner now hopes to carry forward in a new, modernized form.
