With just under a week until Canada’s largest charity hockey game, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is thrilled to announce that NHL legend Ryan Getzlaf will be joining the impressive lineup for Hockey Night in Brampton 2024.
Ryan Getzlaf, former captain of the Anaheim Ducks and one of the NHL’s most respected players, brings unparalleled leadership, skill, and experience to this year’s event. A two-time Olympic gold medalist and Stanley Cup champion, Getzlaf is celebrated for his playmaking prowess, physical strength, and leadership both on and off the ice. His participation adds another layer of excitement to an already electrifying roster.
Getzlaf, who spent his entire career with the Ducks, holds franchise records for games played (1,157), assists (737), and points (1,017). He is also the Ducks’ all-time playoff leader in goals (37), assists (83), and points (120), playing a pivotal role in Anaheim’s first Stanley Cup victory in 2007.
Joining Getzlaf are some of hockey’s biggest stars, including Toronto Maple Leafs talents Mitch Marner and Max Domi. Returning coaches Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour will once again lead the teams, with Coach Gilmour eager to defend his title as last year’s champion. The night will kick off with a ceremonial puck drop by the legendary Daryl Sittler, signaling the start of an exciting third season for this vital fundraiser.
Last year, Hockey Night in Brampton raised $1,000,000 for the Osler Foundation and $100,000 for the John Tavares Foundation. This year, the City aims to surpass that figure, further supporting the development of Brampton’s second hospital. As one of Canada’s busiest community hospital systems, Osler plays a critical role in our community’s health and well-being. The City of Brampton remains dedicated to enhancing local healthcare services through initiatives like Hockey Night in Brampton, ensuring residents have access to specialized care close to home.
The City expresses its deep gratitude to the Presenting Sponsor, Panattoni Development Company Canada, and Changemaker Sponsors Great Gulf, DG Group, Paradise Developments, Capital Power, Holborn Group, Pattison, ARGO, Labourers International Union of North America (LiUNA), and Charger Logistics for their generous support.
