Ontario Cabinet Reshuffle: Jill Dunlop Steps into Education Minister Role

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has appointed Jill Dunlop as the province’s new education minister following the resignation of Todd Smith, who announced today that he is leaving government for a role in the private sector. Smith had been in the position for less than three months.

In response to Smith’s departure, Ford initiated a cabinet shuffle, moving Dunlop from her previous role as Minister of Colleges and Universities to oversee the education portfolio.

Nolan Quinn, who was promoted to cabinet just over two months ago as Associate Minister of Forestry, will now step into Dunlop’s former role as Minister of Colleges and Universities.

Kevin Holland, previously serving as a backbencher, has been elevated to the role of Associate Minister of Forestry.

Additionally, Ford has introduced a new cabinet position, appointing Graham McGregor as Associate Minister of Auto Theft and Bail Reform, bringing the total number of cabinet members to 37.
