Police warn second suspect may be armed and dangerous
Peel Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a second suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Brampton last summer, warning the individual may be armed and dangerous.
The shooting occurred on Aug. 19 at a residence near Castlemore Road and Humberwest Parkway. Investigators say two suspects attended the home, where two people were shot. One victim died as a result of their injuries, while the second was treated for gunshot wounds and later released from hospital. Police have not publicly identified the victims.
A 24-year-old Brampton man, Dilpreet Singh, was arrested in October and charged with first-degree murder.
However, authorities now say a second suspect remains at large. Police have identified him as Manpreet Singh, 29, of no fixed address. He is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder and attempted murder with a firearm.
Investigators describe the suspect as a South Asian male, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build, straight black hair and brown eyes. He has a full beard and a tattoo on his right forearm that reads “Manna (heart symbol) Sukh.”
Police believe Manpreet Singh may be armed and dangerous and are urging members of the public not to approach him. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911 immediately.
Peel Regional Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact them at 905-453-3311. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at peelcrimestoppers.ca. Crime Stoppers tips remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $2,000.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to locate the outstanding suspect and bring the case before the courts.
