Citytv Announces Departure of Popular Co-Hosts, Leaving Fans in Shock
Citytv’s “Breakfast Television” has parted ways with co-hosts Sid Seixeiro and Meredith Shaw, a move that was confirmed on Monday morning’s broadcast by Devo Brown. The news came as a surprise to many loyal viewers, who have come to know and love the dynamic duo for their engaging conversations, humor, and chemistry on air.
Brown acknowledged their contributions in an on-air announcement, stating:
“They’ve brought us plenty of great conversations, laughs, and unforgettable moments, and we’re grateful for everything they’ve shared with all of us. We wish them the very best with what comes next. But we know that change is never easy.”
Following the announcement, both Seixeiro and Shaw confirmed their departures via social media, expressing gratitude and reflection on their time with the show.
Seixeiro, who had been part of Rogers Communications for over 13 years, first gained recognition as co-host of “Tim & Sid” alongside Tim Micallef from 2011 to 2021. He transitioned to “Breakfast Television” in 2021, where he quickly became a fan favorite.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Seixeiro wrote:
“Hey guys. Confirming my last day at @breakfasttv was this past Friday. Thanks for letting me into your homes and for being so kind. Also, thank you to @Rogers for over 13 years of support. They allowed me incredible freedom on-air and I’m grateful. God bless. We’ll talk soon.”
In a follow-up post, he praised his former co-host, calling it an “absolute honour” to work with Shaw:
“She’s driven, she challenged me every day, and made me a better broadcaster. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her. She’s just getting started.”
Shaw, who joined Breakfast Television in 2023 following Dina Pugliese’s departure, also shared her thoughts on leaving the show, admitting that the transition was “hard.”
“Not gonna lie, this is hard,” she posted. “Deep breath. Thank you for welcoming me into your homes & hearts. Co-hosting @breakfasttelevision with @sid_seixeiro has been such an honour, and I’m so proud of the television we have made.”
