The City of Brampton is set to host its first official Polish Heritage Month celebration, highlighting the vibrant culture and enduring contributions of Polish Canadians to the community. In partnership with the Canadian Polish Business Association, the event will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Brampton City Hall, located at 2 Wellington Street West.
The afternoon begins with a ceremonial flag raising at Ken Whillans Square, followed by a public reception inside City Hall. Attendees can enjoy traditional Polish cuisine, cultural performances, and live entertainment as part of the festivities.
May is recognized across Canada as Polish Heritage Month, offering communities an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments and traditions of Polish Canadians. It also includes the annual commemoration of Polish Constitution Day on May 3, which marks the adoption of one of Europe’s oldest constitutions.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown welcomed the event, saying, “Brampton is proud to celebrate its growing Polish community during Polish Heritage Month. This event is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the contributions of Polish Canadians to our city’s cultural, social and economic fabric.”
City Councillor Navjit Kaur Brar, Chair of Corporate Support Services and representative for Wards 2 & 6, added, “Polish Heritage Month is a meaningful celebration of history, culture and community. We are proud to host Brampton’s first official Polish Heritage Month event and to showcase the vibrancy and pride of our local Polish residents.”
