Residents in Brampton and Mississauga will have several opportunities to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr this year with cultural, social and wellness events taking place across the region.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide. The festival falls on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and this year it is expected to begin around March 20, depending on the sighting of the moon.
A variety of community gatherings — from musical performances and family brunches to wellness and seniors’ programs — are planned to mark the occasion.
