City of Brampton Launches Public Engagement for 2026 Budget

The City of Brampton has launched its public engagement process for the 2026 municipal budget, inviting residents, businesses and community stakeholders to share their priorities as Mayor Patrick Brown prepares the proposed financial plan for the year ahead.

City officials say community input is a key part of Brampton’s annual budget process and helps guide investments that support the city’s growth and quality of life.

Throughout January 2026, the Mayor, members of council and city staff will host a series of engagement sessions to gather feedback from the public and the business community.

Upcoming engagement opportunities include:

Business Roundtable
A virtual session will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., in collaboration with the City’s finance department, the Mayor’s Office, Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor — chair of economic development — and Councillor Rowena Santos, vice-chair. The session will focus on priorities and challenges facing Brampton’s business community.
Registration is available through Eventbrite.

Downtown Brampton BIA Roundtable
Regional Councillor Paul Vicente will host a virtual roundtable with members of the Downtown Brampton Business Improvement Area on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6 to 7 p.m., to discuss local economic considerations and budget priorities.
Registration is also available through Eventbrite.

Brampton Arts Organization Roundtable
A virtual engagement session co-hosted with the Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) will be held for arts and culture organizations and businesses. Details, including the date and time, will be announced.

Ward Coffee Chats
From Jan. 18 to 25, the Mayor and local councillors will host in-person, drop-in “coffee chat” meetings in ward pairings, giving residents a chance to share ideas and concerns directly. Locations and times will be posted on the City’s website.

Telephone Town Hall
A citywide telephone town hall is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Residents can ask questions, provide feedback and participate in live polls during the call.
Those wishing to take part can register at letsconnect.brampton.ca/budget2026 to receive a call.

Budget timeline

The City will release the proposed 2026 Budget on Friday, Jan. 9, accompanied by a press conference and news release.

Public delegations and council deliberations are scheduled between Jan. 19 and Jan. 27, with final adoption of the budget set for a special council meeting on Jan. 27.

Once the proposed budget is tabled, council will consider it in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, including provisions for council amendments and the mayor’s veto authority.

After the budget is adopted, the City plans to launch a public education campaign featuring videos and digital content from the Mayor and members of council to help residents understand the approved budget and key investments.

City officials say the budget process will be supported by a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy, including public meetings, telephone town halls, online tools, news releases, social media updates and the City’s budget website.
