Oshawa might just be Canada’s new lucky charm. Within the span of a few days, two residents of the Durham Region city have scored massive wins in two of the country’s biggest lotteries.
First came Toronto Blue Jays fan Aric, who took home more than $25 million in a record-breaking World Series 50/50 draw earlier this week. And now, Oshawa’s Anna Palleschi has won the $1.2 million bonus prize in the Princess Margaret Lottery.
Palleschi’s prize package includes a luxury Yorkville condo, Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors season tickets, and $50,000 in cash — an enviable combination that has made her one of the lottery’s biggest winners this year.
The Princess Margaret Home Lottery, which supports cancer research at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, is one of Ontario’s most anticipated charitable draws. The Grand Prize, featuring a show home in Oakville plus $500,000 cash, will be announced on December 4.
With two life-changing wins in just one week, it seems Oshawa residents have plenty of reason to believe lightning really can strike twice.
