Charlie Woods Captures First Junior Golf Crown with Dominant AJGA Win in Florida

STREAMSONG, Fla.Charlie Woods, 16-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, clinched his first American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) title on Wednesday, delivering a commanding performance at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Florida.

Woods fired a sizzling six-under-par 66 in the final round at Streamsong Resort’s Black Course, finishing at 15-under 201 to win by three strokes in one of the most competitive junior events in the country.

The win marks a major breakthrough for Charlie in the AJGA circuit, considered the top junior golf series in the U.S. Despite being ranked 606th heading into the tournament, Woods topped a field that included 60 of the top 100 junior golfers and four of the top five nationally ranked players. He is now expected to vault into the top 15 in the AJGA rankings following his win.

Clutch Performance Seals the Deal

In his fifth AJGA start, Charlie’s final round included eight birdies and two bogeys, capped off with a steady finish of four straight pars to secure victory. His performance earns him full exemption into AJGA invitationals for the remainder of the season.

Although he entered the event via a sponsor invitation, Charlie Woods now has a spot firmly earned on merit.

College Watch and Next Steps

Charlie becomes eligible to speak with college coaches starting next month, though he wouldn’t be able to join a university golf team until 2027 at the earliest. His strong showing in Florida has undoubtedly raised interest from top programs across the country.

Earlier this month, Woods missed qualifying for the U.S. Open, but his AJGA triumph confirms his place as a fast-rising star in competitive golf.

The younger Woods has previously captured age-group event titles, but this is his first major win on a national stage. As he continues to develop, golf fans and scouts alike are watching closely to see if he can forge a legacy of his own in the game his father once dominated.
