City of Brampton Celebrates National Canadian Film Day by Showcasing Homegrown Stories and Talent

The City of Brampton is thrilled to celebrate National Canadian Film Day 2025 with two exciting, public events that spotlight the incredible storytelling, cultural diversity, and creative brilliance of Brampton’s film and media community. Taking place on April 16 and 17, the celebrations underscore Brampton’s rising status as a hub for film and television production in Canada.

Since its launch in 2014, National Canadian Film Day has become a beloved annual tradition, championing the unique voices and cinematic achievements that define the Canadian experience. This year, Brampton is proud to join the celebration with two curated events open to all — and free to attend with registration.

Event Highlights

Brampton Film Showcase

  • Date: April 16
  • Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Location: SilverCity Brampton Cinemas, 50 Great Lakes Dr.
    Presented in partnership with the Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) and the City’s Film Office, this evening will feature 17 short films and videos by emerging and established Brampton filmmakers. A special networking reception will follow, offering a chance for local creatives and audiences to connect.

HomeBound: Cinematic Reflections of Migration and Diaspora

  • Date: April 17
  • Time: 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM
  • Location: Cyril Clark Theatre, 20 Loafers Lake Ln.
    This powerful screening event focuses on themes of migration, identity, and belonging, and will feature a collection of shorts alongside a presentation of When Morning Comes, a feature-length film by award-winning Brampton filmmaker Kelly Fyffe-Marshall.
