With the sound of applause, chants of support, and a sea of red, Liberal MP Sonia Sidhu launched her re-election campaign in Brampton South on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at her new campaign headquarters located at 8475 Mississauga Road. The event brought together a remarkable crowd of over 600, including volunteers, seniors, youth, social organizations, cultural groups, and key political leaders.
The opening of the office marked not just the start of a campaign—but a movement rooted in community values, inclusive growth, and strong leadership.
The launch drew support from across Brampton and Ottawa, with Hon. Kamal Khera (Minister of Health), MP Maninder Sidhu, MP Shafqat Ali, and MP Ruby Sahota delivering messages of solidarity and praise.
“This campaign reflects the heart of Brampton—diverse, energetic, and united,” said Minister Kamal Khera. “Sonia has been a champion for health care and families. Her voice in Parliament will only grow stronger.”
MP Maninder Sidhu remarked, “Sonia’s service to the people is unwavering. She works with sincerity, compassion, and fierce dedication.”
MP Shafqat Ali praised Sidhu’s accessibility, saying, “She listens, she delivers, and she leads with integrity.”
MP Ruby Sahota added: “Sonia has fought hard for Brampton’s share of federal investments. We need leaders like her now more than ever.”
Addressing the crowd, Sonia Sidhu began her remarks with heartfelt gratitude.
“This isn’t my campaign—it’s our campaign,” Sidhu said. “It’s about your hopes, your families, and your future. Together, we’ve built trust, and together, we’ll build on the progress we’ve made.”
She highlighted the positive impact of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government, noting key policies that have directly benefited Brampton:
The National Housing Plan, which focuses on building more affordable housing units, especially in growing cities like Brampton.
The Canadian Pharmacare Initiative, aimed at covering essential medications for all Canadians.
Green Innovation Incentives, which support clean-tech businesses and local sustainability projects.
Trade Resilience Programs to safeguard Canadian jobs amid global instability.
“Mark Carney’s leadership has brought Canada stability, vision, and compassion,” Sidhu added. “He’s tackling the cost of living, boosting affordable housing, and investing in the health of every Canadian. I’m proud to be part of that team.”
Among the many voices backing Sidhu was Mr. Gian Paul, Chairperson of Flower City Friends Club, who praised her deep engagement with seniors.
“Sonia Sidhu is not a guest in our community—she’s family,” Gian Paul said. “She stands with seniors, listens to us, and delivers meaningful change.”
Sidhu’s campaign team is already mobilizing hundreds of volunteers, planning community canvassing, multicultural outreach efforts, and issue-based roundtables in the weeks ahead.
Wrapping up the launch, Sidhu offered an emotional thank you to the crowd.
“Thank you for believing in me, for walking with me, and for standing up for Brampton,” she said. “This campaign is powered by kindness, respect, and hope—and together, we will keep building a better future for every generation in Brampton South.”
Amandeep Sodhi, who is contesting Brampton Centre for the Liberals, told the crowd: “Sonia Sidhu has been an inspiration to candidates like me. She leads with humility, she connects with people, and she gets the job done. I’m proud to stand beside her as we work together for a better Brampton.”
The event concluded with cheers, music, and a buzz of excitement as volunteers grabbed lawn signs, campaign literature, and team shirts—ready to hit the ground running.
As one senior volunteer said on the way out: “Sonia’s not just our MP—she’s our neighbour, our friend, and our fighter.”
