With just over a year to go before the world’s biggest sporting event arrives in Canada, Toronto has officially unveiled its 2026 FIFA World Cup Host City Poster, designed by renowned local illustrator Dave Murray.
Selected from over 550 applicants, Murray’s design captures the spirit of soccer and Toronto’s diverse urban fabric. The artwork features a dynamic soccer player in motion, marked by a stylized red maple leaf, and highlights BMO Field as the tournament’s central venue. A grid pattern in the background nods to Toronto’s street layout, symbolizing a quilt representing the city’s vibrant communities and multicultural identity.
“I’m unbelievably thrilled, proud, and honoured to reveal my official host city poster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” said Murray. “To combine sport and art in the city I live in and love—it’s a dream come true.”
The 2026 tournament marks a historic first: FIFA is releasing unique posters for each of the 16 host cities. Toronto will host six matches, starting with the opening game on Canadian soil on June 12, 2026, and concluding with a Round of 32 match on July 2, 2026.
Social media users have praised Murray’s poster as an “instant classic” and one of the best World Cup designs in recent decades. All host city posters are now available for purchase through the official FIFA World Cup 2026 website.
Toronto joins global cities in welcoming the beautiful game, celebrating soccer, culture, and creativity on the world’s stage.
