In a significant surge of activity within the Hindi film industry, major Pan India films are being snapped up by leading distributors AA Films and Pen Marudhar at substantial prices, injecting much-needed vibrancy into the sector. Leading the pack is Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2,” which has broken records with a massive Rs. 200 crore acquisition for the North Indian theatrical rights by Anil Thadani.
Following closely is the sci-fi epic “Kalki 2898 AD,” featuring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, which has been purchased for Rs. 100 crores by Thadani, making it the second-largest deal recently inked. The film is slated for a release by the end of May.
“Game Changer,” starring Ram Charan and directed by Shankar, ranks third in this high-stakes market. It has been acquired for Rs. 75 crores in North India, marking a significant milestone for Ram Charan. Industry insiders predict substantial returns for this film due to its competitive acquisition cost.
NTR’s “Devara,” a rural tale from coastal Andhra, stands fourth, fetching Rs. 45 crores despite its less mainstream appeal and relatively unknown director—highlighting the robust market for regional cinema in Hindi-speaking territories.
Rounding out the list is “Indian 2,” led by Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar. Pen Marudhar has scooped up the rights for a mere Rs. 20 crores. As a sequel to a beloved classic, this film is anticipated to be a significant profit-maker.
These acquisitions reflect the high expectations and excitement surrounding these Pan India films, all set to potentially redefine box office trends.
