Toronto authorities are intensifying their search for a man and woman implicated in a deceptive credit card scam, resulting in the loss of thousands of dollars for an elderly couple. The fraud began with a phone call on January 24, 2024, where the callers masqueraded as police officers, alleging the couple’s credit cards had been misused. They convinced the victims to hand over their cards and PINs to a supposed courier.
The fraudulent activities led to charges close to $13,000 on the couple’s credit cards. The suspects remain at large, with the man described as robust with a full beard and medium black hair, often sporting a Toronto Raptors cap, while the woman is slender with long black hair. The police are urging potential victims of similar scams to come forward, fearing a wider net of deceit.
The male suspect is described as having a heavy build with a full beard, and medium black hair in a flow style. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat with a Toronto Raptors logo on the front, a black and grey Nike sweater, grey track pants, a brown coat and grey pillow-style slippers with white socks.
The female suspect is described as having a thin build with long black hair. She was last seen wearing a grey pullover sweater with a hood and grey sweatpants.
