Ontario Recalls Range of Products Due to Safety Hazards, Including Blinds, Helmets, and Laptop Chargers

Ontario authorities are alerting residents this week to review a variety of recalled products, from home furnishings to electronic devices and safety equipment, due to risks such as fires, burns, and potential strangulation hazards for children.

Recall on Springs Window Fashions Vertical Blinds

Springs Window Fashions has issued a recall for four types of its custom Vertical Blinds with Split-Draw:

  • 3 ½” Premium Wood Vertical Blind,
  • Designer Fabric Verticals,
  • Premium Fabric Vertical,
  • Premium Smooth Vertical.

These products, identifiable by an “S” on the label atop the headrail and a manufacturing date post-May 1, 2022, do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations. The blinds pose a strangulation risk for children due to their looped cords. Approximately 739 units sold in Canada are affected. Consumers are advised to cease using these blinds immediately and contact the company for a replacement.

AGV Tourmodular Motorcycle Helmets Recall

Certain AGV Tourmodular DOT (E2206) Multi MPLK and Solid MPLK motorcycle helmets are being recalled. Manufactured from February 2022 to December 2022, these helmets have potential issues with the micrometric buckle, which might not engage automatically. This defect could cause the helmet to detach during an accident, posing serious injury risks. Around 544 helmets are impacted. Helmet owners should ensure the red lever latch is properly engaged and contact Dainese for a return kit.

Toshiba AC Adapter Recall

Toshiba Canada Limited has announced a recall of Toshiba-brand AC adapters, which pose fire and burn hazards due to potentially overheating flame retardant components. The recall includes 63 models, such as:

  • G71C0009S110,
  • G71C0009S111, etc.,

These were either packaged with laptops or sold separately from 2008 to 2014. Approximately 1.3 million units were sold in Canada. Consumers should immediately stop using these adapters and contact the company for a free replacement.

For all recalled products, no incidents or injuries have been reported in Canada as of the latest updates.
