Several crew members sustained injuries while rehearsing an action sequence on the set of Eddie Murphy’s upcoming movie, “The Pickup,” this past Saturday in Georgia. The incident occurred during a second unit sequence that involved a complex stunt, according to a statement from Amazon Studios.
A spokesperson for the studio elaborated on the mishap, stating, “Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned, resulting in injuries to several crew members.” The Associated Press detailed that the accident involved a truck that malfunctioned and crashed into a car, leading to hospitalizations for two individuals. The range of injuries included bruises and broken bones.
The film, which stars Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, and Pete Davidson, was not filming with the principal cast present at the time of the accident. None of these leading actors were on set when the incident took place.
Amazon Studios is actively investigating the circumstances that led to the accident and emphasized their commitment to safety. “We are still in the process of gathering facts on what happened and why, but our primary concern is the recovery of the injured crew members,” the studio’s spokesperson added. “The well-being of our entire crew and cast remains our top priority, and we adhere to the highest industry safety standards during filming.”
Safety measures were reportedly reviewed and monitored throughout the shooting process, though the studio plans to reassess these procedures in light of the recent events.
