Father Receives 50-Year Sentence for Poisoning Infant Daughter with Antifreeze

In a shocking case out of South Fulton, Georgia, a man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after being convicted of attempting to murder his infant daughter by poisoning her breast milk with antifreeze. The incident occurred on October 1, 2020, when Curtis Jack allegedly tampered with the breast milk bottles he collected from the child’s mother, his coworker who had recently given birth.

The poisoned milk was subsequently given to the baby by her grandmother, who was looking after her and her sibling at the time. Within just a day of consuming the milk, the baby fell critically ill and showed symptoms of poisoning. Medical examination at a local children’s hospital confirmed the presence of ethylene glycol, a toxic chemical commonly found in antifreeze, in her system.

Investigations led to Jack’s arrest after he confessed to the crime during police interrogations. Authorities revealed that Jack had a troubled relationship with the child’s mother, urging her to end the pregnancy earlier. The trial, which drew considerable local attention, featured evidence from family members, police, and medical experts. Testimonies included a demonstration of how the infant’s milk was poisoned.

On April 11, the jury found Jack guilty of attempted murder and cruelty to children. He is set to serve 40 years of the 50-year sentence. The successful prosecution, led by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, was particularly commended by the South Fulton Police Department for its role in securing justice for the young victim and her mother.
