Mayor Patrick Brown has publicly endorsed the Ontario government’s latest initiative to dramatically expand GO train service, describing it as a pivotal development for transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). This expansion, the largest in over a decade, will significantly enhance transit options for Brampton and surrounding communities.
Mayor Brown lauded the provincial government’s announcement to add more than 300 new GO train trips per week on the Milton, Lakeshore West, Lakeshore East, Kitchener, and Stouffville lines. He emphasized that this 15% increase in service capacity will provide Brampton commuters with faster and more frequent travel options, crucial for the daily needs of the city’s growing population.
“Brampton welcomes the provincial government making the largest GO train service expansion in over a decade,” stated Mayor Brown. “The 15 per cent increase in service gives Brampton commuters more and faster choices to get to where they need to go to within the GTHA and beyond.”
The mayor’s statement reflects the city’s commitment to improving transit accessibility and underscores the positive impact that enhanced GO train services will have on Brampton’s economic growth, community connectivity, and overall quality of life. The initiative is also aligned with broader regional transportation plans aimed at creating a more integrated and efficient transit system across Ontario.
The City of Brampton continues to collaborate with provincial partners to support and advocate for transportation projects that benefit its residents and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
