Two Arrested After Extortion-Linked Shooting at Surrey Home, No Injuries Reported

SURREY, B.C. — Two men have been arrested following an overnight shooting incident at a home in Surrey’s Ridge Crescent area early Thursday, which police believe is connected to an ongoing extortion investigation.

According to a Surrey Police Service (SPS) news release, officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire around 2 a.m. near 56 Avenue and King George Boulevard. When police arrived, they found bullet damage to the exterior of a residence where several people were inside at the time. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

A suspect vehicle was located shortly afterward nearby, and two men were taken into custody. The SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIS) attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

“Based on the initial information, it is believed that this shooting is extortion-related, with potential linkages to other investigations,” SPS said in a statement. The case has now been turned over to the B.C. Extortion Task Force, which is leading the probe.

Police are urging anyone who was in the area of 56 Avenue and King George Boulevard early Thursday morning — or who has CCTV or dashcam footage — to come forward. Witnesses can contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 25-95384 (SP).

The investigation remains active as officers work to determine the motive and identify any broader connections to regional extortion-related incidents.
