Peel Police Seize Firearms and Make Multiple Arrests Following Proactive Investigations in Mississauga

Officers from the Strategic and Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) Unit have arrested three individuals and seized two loaded firearms following separate proactive investigations in Mississauga. The arrests resulted in multiple firearm and drug-related charges, reflecting Peel Regional Police’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and remove illegal weapons from the community.

Investigation #1 – Friday, April 25, 2025

At approximately 10:25 p.m., officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Shawson Drive and Atlantic Drive in Mississauga. As a result of the investigation, a loaded prohibited firearm and a quantity of cocaine were seized.

Two men were arrested and charged:

  • Vincent Chang, 29, of Newmarket
  • Hidaya Bouzrara, 23, of Toronto

Each has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing a Firearm Was Present
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, or Prohibited Device
  • Tampering with Serial Number on Firearm

Both individuals remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigation #2 – Saturday, April 26, 2025

At approximately 11:47 p.m., STEP officers conducted a second vehicle stop in the area of Torbram Road and Drew Road. A loaded firearm was located, and one suspect was arrested.

  • Jae-Quonne Hamilton, 24, of Toronto

Hamilton faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing a Firearm Was Present
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon

At the time of the arrest, Hamilton was found to be in violation of a court-ordered firearms prohibition. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

These investigations form part of Peel Regional Police’s continued enforcement strategy to target individuals engaged in illegal firearm activity.
