: Whole Foods to Close Two Toronto Stores This Month, New Location Coming in 2026

Whole Foods Market will shutter two of its Toronto locations — Yonge and Sheppard in North York and Bayview Avenue in Leaside — by August 22, the company confirmed Friday. The closures come as part of a business review aimed at “positioning the company for long-term success,” according to a spokesperson.

Despite the shutdowns, Whole Foods says it remains committed to expanding in Canada, with a new store planned for King Street West scheduled to open in 2026. The grocer’s Yorkville location will remain open, along with nearby stores in Mississauga, Oakville, and Markham.

Whole Foods said it is working with affected employees to ensure a smooth transition and emphasized that over 100 new stores are in development globally. Details on the upcoming King Street West location will be shared closer to its opening date.
