What’s Open and Happening in Brampton This Victoria Day Long Weekend

Residents across Brampton can look forward to a variety of activities and services during the upcoming Victoria Day long weekend as the City prepares for the holiday on Monday, May 18, 2026.

While most City offices, including City of Brampton City Hall, will be closed for the statutory holiday, essential and emergency services will continue operating as usual.

Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, Enforcement and By-law Services, Road Operations and Security Services will remain available throughout the long weekend.

Families and residents looking to enjoy warmer weather can take advantage of the seasonal opening of splash pads across the city beginning May 15, weather permitting. More than 20 splash pad locations will be available for residents and visitors.

The popular wading pool at Chinguacousy Park will also officially open for the season on May 16. During spring and fall, the pool will operate on weekends only before moving to daily summer operations later in the season.

Sports fans can also catch the home opener of the Brampton Honey Badgers on Friday, May 15, at the CAA Centre as the team takes on the Ottawa BlackJacks. The Honey Badgers will also host the Calgary Surge on Sunday, May 17.

The City is also reminding residents that fireworks remain prohibited in Brampton except during City-led events. Under the City’s Fireworks By-law, penalties for unauthorized use, sale or possession of fireworks begin at $500. Sparklers remain permitted.

Brampton Transit will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday, May 18. Transit customer service counters at terminals will remain closed for the day, while the Contact Centre will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Residents can continue enjoying Brampton’s parks, playgrounds, trails and off-leash dog parks throughout the holiday weekend, with all outdoor park spaces remaining open.

Select Brampton Recreation centres will operate under modified holiday hours. There will be no registered recreation programs on Monday, May 18.

Meanwhile, all branches of Brampton Library will be closed on Sunday, May 17, and Monday, May 18. However, digital services including ebooks, audiobooks, streaming content and online learning resources will remain accessible through the library’s website and mobile app.

Brampton Animal Services said the Brampton Animal Shelter will be closed on Monday, but Animal Services officers will continue responding to emergency calls and patrol duties throughout the holiday.

Residents seeking municipal assistance can continue using Service Brampton services online or through the Brampton 311 mobile app during the holiday weekend, with urgent requests continuing to be handled overnight.
