What’s Open and Closed in Brampton on Christmas Day 2025

Christmas Day falls on Thursday this year, bringing midweek closures and reduced services across Brampton as residents mark the holiday on Dec. 25, 2025.

Here’s a look at what will be open and closed in the city on Christmas Day.

Open

  • Essential services: Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services and By-law Enforcement will continue operating.
  • Outdoor skating rinks: Some rinks will be open with adjusted holiday hours. Residents are advised to check the City of Brampton website for details.
  • Brampton Transit: Operating on a reduced holiday schedule.
  • Restaurants: Some locations will be open for dine-in and/or takeout. Customers are encouraged to call ahead.
  • Pharmacies: Select drug stores, including some Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall locations, will be open with varying hours.
  • Emergency shelters: Region of Peel emergency shelters and the Street Helpline (1-877-848-8481) will remain available.

Closed

  • Shopping centres and malls: Bramalea City Centre, Shoppers World and all major malls.
  • Grocery stores: Major chains such as Metro and Longo’s.
  • Retail and entertainment: Costco locations and movie theatres.
  • Recreation facilities: All Brampton recreation centres and community centres.
  • Government and civic offices: Brampton City Hall, federal government offices and Caledon Town Hall.
  • Financial institutions: Banks.
  • Alcohol retailers: LCBO, Beer Store and Wine Rack.
  • Libraries: All Brampton Library branches and Caledon Public Library.
  • Animal services: The Brampton Animal Shelter.
  • Museums: Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA).
  • Caledon facilities: Caledon recreation facilities.

Region of Peel – Non-Emergency Services

The following services will be closed starting Dec. 25 and will reopen on Jan. 2:

  • Service Peel counters
  • Dental Services Contact Centre and dental clinics
  • Early Years and Child Care Services
  • Housing Services client services
  • Income and Social Supports
  • Brampton and Fairview Healthy Sexuality Clinics
  • Needle Exchange Program and Harm Reduction mobile van

Transit

  • Brampton Transit: Reduced Sunday/holiday service schedule.
  • GO Transit: Operating on a Saturday schedule.
  • Brampton Transit facilities: Clark and Sandalwood facilities, including Lost and Found, will be closed.
  • TransHelp: Office closed from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1, with no application processing during that time.

Garbage and Recycling

  • Waste collection: No collection on Dec. 25. Pickup will occur two days later than usual.
  • Community Recycling Centres: Closed on Christmas Day.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, check individual business hours where applicable, and confirm schedules on official city and regional websites before heading out on Christmas Day.
