Violent Daylight Robbery in Thornhill, York Police Seek Public Assistance

York Regional Police are actively searching for at least three suspects following a violent robbery in Thornhill, which was caught on camera. The robbery occurred on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at approximately 5:10 PM, in a commercial plaza near Yonge Street and Meadowview Avenue.

The shocking footage reveals the victim driving through the plaza when two vehicles—a white Lexus SUV and a white Mercedes-Benz sedan—boxed in his vehicle. Three suspects exited the vehicles and assaulted the victim, stealing a black, carry-on style suitcase containing a substantial amount of cash. The suspects then fled the scene, leaving the victim with minor injuries.

The Lexus SUV, which was reported stolen from Toronto earlier that day, bore the Ontario license plate DCDL 270, while the Mercedes-Benz had an unregistered license plate CKDY 286. The three suspects are described as males wearing dark clothing and reportedly speaking with a Middle Eastern accent. Authorities believe this was a targeted incident.
