A devastating car crash on Wednesday morning has claimed the lives of three members of an Indian-origin family in Texas, leaving their 14-year-old son as the sole survivor. The accident occurred on US Highway 281 as the family was en route to the University of Texas at Dallas, where their 17-year-old daughter was set to begin her college journey.
The victims, Arvind Mani, 45, his wife Pradeepa Arvind, 40, and their daughter Andril Arvind, 17, were tragically killed when their vehicle collided with a Cadillac CTS. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Cadillac had experienced a rear tire blowout, causing it to lose control and veer into oncoming traffic, leading to the fatal crash around 6 am on August 14.
The family resided in Leander, Texas, and their only surviving immediate family member, 14-year-old Adiryan, was not in the car at the time of the accident. Adiryan, who had just started 9th grade, now faces the unimaginable challenge of navigating life without his parents and sister.
In response to this heartbreaking tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign was launched by family friend Rajaraman Venkatachalam to support Adiryan with his future needs, including legal and educational expenses. The campaign has resonated with the community, raising over $400,000 from more than 8,300 donors as of Thursday afternoon, according to a report by KCENTV.
“Adiryan, who had just started 9th grade, was unable to join his family on the trip and now faces life without them. This young boy, with many dreams and aspirations, needs our support for funeral arrangements, legal matters, and ongoing care, including educational expenses,” reads the GoFundMe post. The funds will help Adiryan as he navigates this challenging time with the support of his uncle’s family in Austin.
The tragic loss of the Arvind family has sent shockwaves through the Indian-origin community in Texas and beyond. As friends, relatives, and well-wishers rally around young Adiryan, the outpouring of support highlights the deep sense of community and compassion that has emerged in the wake of this tragedy.
The community continues to mourn the loss of Arvind, Pradeepa, and Andril, while extending their thoughts and prayers to Adiryan during this incredibly difficult time.
