Snowfall Warning Remains in Effect for GTA and Southern Ontario

A snowfall warning remains in effect for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Southern Ontario, with light snowfall expected to continue this morning before tapering off to flurries. An additional 2 cm of snow is anticipated before conditions improve later in the day.

While the intensity of snowfall is easing, road conditions remain hazardous, particularly for morning commuters. Areas affected by the snowfall warning include:
Toronto
Mississauga
Brampton
Halton Region
Hamilton
Niagara Region

Residents are urged to exercise caution while driving or walking, as highways, streets, sidewalks, and parking lots may be slippery due to fresh snow accumulation. Reduced visibility and slick surfaces pose increased risks for both motorists and pedestrians.

Motorists are advised to:

  • Adjust driving to match changing road conditions.
  • Allow for extra travel time and drive at reduced speeds.
  • Maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles.
  • Be mindful of road maintenance crews working to clear major routes.

Although road crews are actively clearing snow-covered roads, untreated areas may still be icy and hazardous.

The flurries are expected to taper off later this morning, bringing an end to this latest round of snowfall. However, temperatures remain cold, and residual snow and ice may persist on roads and sidewalks.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather alerts and check for any potential disruptions to travel or transit services.
