A heartwarming Canadian Citizenship Ceremony was held today at the CAA Centre in Brampton, where Shafqat Ali, Member of Parliament for Brampton Centre, joined the Right Hon. Adrienne Clarkson, former Governor General of Canada, and Dr. Verne Ross to welcome Canada’s newest citizens.
The event marked an important milestone for individuals and families who officially became Canadian citizens by taking the Oath of Citizenship. MP Shafqat Ali extended his warmest congratulations to the new Canadians and shared words of encouragement as they embark on this new chapter of their lives.

“Canada is a land of opportunity, diversity, and inclusion. It is a nation built by immigrants, and today, we celebrate those who have chosen to call Canada their home,” said MP Shafqat Ali. “Becoming a Canadian citizen is not just about receiving a passport—it is about embracing our shared values of freedom, democracy, and respect for one another. Canada is stronger because of our diversity, and I am proud to welcome our newest citizens into our great Canadian family.”
The ceremony highlighted Canada’s commitment to multiculturalism, equity, and unity, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a welcoming nation. MP Ali also emphasized the role of immigrants in shaping Canada’s future and contributing to the country’s economic and social prosperity.
“I encourage our new citizens to embrace every opportunity that Canada offers, to be active members of their communities, and to take pride in this beautiful country that we all call home,” he added.
The event was a proud moment for all in attendance, as Canada continues to uphold its tradition of welcoming people from all backgrounds who contribute to the strength and richness of the nation.
