Shafqat Ali Launches Campaign for Brampton Chinguacousy Park Riding with Grand Office Opening and Community Rally

A wave of enthusiasm and unity swept through the heart of Brampton today as Shafqat Ali, the Liberal Party of Canada’s candidate for the newly established Brampton Chinguacousy Park riding, officially launched his election campaign and opened his campaign office to the public.

Despite the rainy, icy conditions, more than 250 supporters, including volunteers, community leaders, seniors’ groups, media personnel, and representatives from various cultural and social organizations, gathered to express their support and witness the launch of what promises to be a spirited and inclusive campaign.

The event was inaugurated by Ahmed Hussen, Minister in the outgoing cabinet and current Liberal candidate for York South—Weston, who praised Shafqat Ali’s unwavering commitment to bringing diverse communities together under a shared vision of unity, respect, and progress. Minister Hussen highlighted Ali’s accomplishments during his previous term as Member of Parliament for Brampton Centre, especially his passionate work for seniors, affordable housing, and his role in supporting inclusive policy-making.

“Shafqat is not just a politician—he is a bridge builder, a man who listens to people and delivers results. He embodies the true spirit of Canada’s diversity,” said Minister Hussen.

Now running in the newly formed Brampton Chinguacousy Park riding, Shafqat Ali addressed the crowd with heartfelt gratitude.

“I am humbled by your presence here today despite the weather. Your belief in me means everything. Our Canada is strong, and together we will stand against those who try to divide us—be it through words, policies, or tariffs,” said Ali. “We will protect our sovereignty, invest in our people, and remain united.”

Ali discussed key elements of the Liberal Party’s platform, including the expansion of dental care, support for seniors, climate action, and economic growth. He also reaffirmed his support for Liberal leader Mark Carney, applauding his clear vision and steady leadership.

Joining him in support were several fellow MPs and community figures:

Sonia Sidhu, MP for Brampton South, said, “Shafqat has proven himself time and again. His care for seniors, dedication to youth, and advocacy for Brampton residents is unmatched. He’s the right choice to lead this new riding.”

Maninder Sidhu, MP for Brampton East, added, “This is a leader who doesn’t wait for problems to reach Ottawa—he brings solutions from Brampton to Parliament. Shafqat represents what real public service looks like.”

Ruby Sahota, MP for Brampton North, stated, “Shafqat’s empathy and strength make him a vital part of our team. Brampton needs his voice now more than ever.”

Amandeep Sodhi, Liberal candidate for Brampton Centre, shared his admiration, saying, “Shafqat inspires many of us in politics. His work in the last term has left a positive mark, and I am honoured to campaign alongside him.”

Also present were Regional Councillors Paul Vicente and Rod Power, both of whom highlighted Ali’s role in advancing Brampton’s infrastructure and community programming.

“Shafqat has always worked closely with the city to bring real change to Brampton,” said Councillor Vicente.
“His grassroots approach is what makes him connect so deeply with people,” added Councillor Power.

Several community leaders also spoke in support:

Irfan Malik, a prominent community advocate, said, “Shafqat Ali is a symbol of honesty and integrity. He listens, he acts, and he delivers.”

Safdar Hussain, a respected faith leader, remarked, “We need voices like Shafqat’s to represent our values and speak for every community in Parliament.”

Paramjit Birdi, long-time volunteer and Brampton resident, commented, “Shafqat’s work with youth and seniors has shown us what leadership with compassion truly looks like.”

Gian Paul, Chairperson of the Flower City Friends Club (FCFC), which represents senior citizens, noted, “Shafqat has always been a friend to the seniors of Brampton. He is approachable, understanding, and always ready to support initiatives that bring dignity and joy to our elders.”

Following the formal event, supporters immediately joined the first official door-knocking campaign of the season, connecting with residents and energizing the campaign with messages of unity, hope, and action.

With strong support across Brampton’s diverse communities and a vision rooted in inclusivity and prosperity, Shafqat Ali’s campaign for Brampton Chinguacousy Park is off to a powerful start.
