Ali Wins Brampton—Chinguacousy, Pledges Strong Local Advocacy
Shafqat Ali has been re-elected to Parliament, this time as the Liberal MP for the newly created riding of Brampton—Chinguacousy, after securing a decisive win in a tightly contested race.
With 199 of 200 polls reporting, Ali earned 21,168 votes (48.7%), narrowly defeating Conservative candidate Tim Iqbal, who received 19,339 votes (44.5%). The close race drew significant attention across Peel Region, with strong voter turnout.
In his victory speech, Ali thanked the residents of Brampton—Chinguacousy for their trust and support:
“I am truly honoured and humbled by the support of the people of Brampton—Chinguacousy. Thank you for placing your confidence in me once again. I will continue to serve with integrity, passion, and a deep sense of responsibility to every resident in our diverse and vibrant community.”
Ali also praised Liberal Leader Mark Carney, who is poised to become Canada’s next Prime Minister:
“Under Mark Carney’s leadership, we are entering a new era of stability, responsibility, and smart economic policy. He brings experience and vision—exactly what Canada needs. I am proud to serve in his team and help deliver results that matter to everyday Canadians.”
Looking ahead, Ali reaffirmed his commitment to local priorities:
“I will continue fighting for better health care access, more affordable housing, and real investments in jobs and infrastructure. Our community deserves safe streets, stronger schools, and economic opportunities that leave no one behind.”
Previously elected in Brampton Centre in 2021, Ali has served on key House of Commons committees including Citizenship and Immigration and Environment and Sustainable Development. He brings experience as a successful entrepreneur and advocate for immigrant families and youth empowerment.
Ali’s win reflects continued confidence in the Liberal vision and a commitment to delivering on promises made at the doorstep.
