Porter Airlines Expands NYC Service with Three Daily Flights from Toronto Pearson

Porter Airlines is expanding its service between Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga and New York City, offering three daily roundtrip flights to LaGuardia Airport starting May 1, 2025.

The new year-round service marks a significant step in Porter’s growing footprint in the New York metropolitan area. The airline, which began operating out of Toronto Pearson in early 2023, aims to meet increasing demand along one of the busiest air travel corridors connecting Canada and the United States.

While Porter has yet to establish routes to and from JFK International Airport, it has been serving Newark Liberty International Airport from Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport since 2008. The addition of LaGuardia expands Porter’s reach, offering more convenience and options for passengers.

Flights to LaGuardia will operate out of the newly redeveloped Terminal B, a state-of-the-art facility that recently underwent a $5.1 billion upgrade.

Andrew Pierce, Porter’s Vice-President of Network Planning and Reporting, highlighted the significance of the expansion.
“The addition of LaGuardia introduces a new dimension to our network, opening more options for existing customers and the ability to attract new ones within the busiest air service corridor connecting Canada and the U.S.,” Pierce said.

The new service will integrate seamlessly with Porter’s domestic network, providing connections to cities across Canada including Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and Vancouver.

Porter’s partnership with Long Island-based JetBlue further enhances connectivity, offering passengers a wide range of onward connections from LaGuardia to destinations across the Southern U.S.

Tony Vero, General Manager of LaGuardia Airport, said the partnership strengthens the growing network and provides seamless travel between New York and Canada.
“Whether for business or leisure, this service opens exciting travel opportunities, linking two dynamic cities with ease,” Vero said.

The Pearson-to-LaGuardia route will be operated by Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, offering a comfortable and efficient travel experience.

Porter Airlines exclusively operated flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport until announcing its expansion to Toronto Pearson in December 2022. The first flights from Pearson began in early 2023, and the new LaGuardia service solidifies its growing presence at Canada’s busiest airport.

This latest expansion underscores Porter’s commitment to offering convenient and competitive travel options for passengers while strengthening its position as a leading carrier in the Canada-U.S. air travel market.
