Pierre Poilievre Launches Conservative Campaign with Pledge to Restore “Canada’s Promise”

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre officially launched his campaign for the 2025 federal election today, vowing to restore “Canada’s promise” and deliver real change for Canadians struggling with affordability, economic uncertainty, and rising crime.

Speaking at a press conference in Gatineau just hours before Liberal Leader Mark Carney’s visit to Rideau Hall to dissolve Parliament, Poilievre laid out a bold plan to put Canadians first, lower taxes, and reverse what he described as a decade of Liberal failures.

“To the single mother worried about feeding her kids, to the young man still living in his mother’s basement dreaming of owning a home, and to the seniors forced to choose between eating and heating—hope is on the way,” said Poilievre.

The Conservative platform will focus on:

  • Scrapping the federal carbon tax once and for all
  • Accelerating job-creating resource projects
  • Reducing taxes to make life more affordable
  • Cracking down on violent crime and protecting communities

Poilievre emphasized that this election is about standing up for Canada at a time of growing international instability and trade tensions with the United States. With President Donald Trump imposing heavy tariffs on Canadian goods, Poilievre underscored the need for leadership that puts Canadian interests first.

He also addressed recent remarks from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, who suggested that Poilievre shares common values with the Trump administration. Poilievre pushed back, pointing out that Trump recently stated he preferred a Liberal government in Canada—a clear sign, he said, that the Conservatives are not beholden to outside influence.

“This election is about Canadian leadership, Canadian values, and a Canadian future,” Poilievre said. “The time for real change has come. The time to restore Canada’s promise is now.”

With the campaign officially underway, Poilievre and the Conservative team will be travelling across the country to meet with Canadians and offer a strong, hopeful alternative to the status quo in Ottawa.
