Ontario to Offer Free GO Transit for Veterans and Boost Financial Aid Starting 2025″

Ontario will make GO Transit free for veterans and active members of the Canadian Armed Forces starting March 1, 2025, as part of a broader initiative to support veterans. The province also plans to extend this benefit to UP Express, making travel more accessible for those who have served.

In addition, Ontario is increasing the annual financial assistance provided by the Soldiers’ Aid Commission, raising support from $2,000 to $3,000 per year for eligible veterans and their families to cover essential expenses.

Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria highlighted the government’s commitment to helping veterans reintegrate into civilian life, emphasizing that these initiatives are a token of Ontario’s gratitude for their service.

The province is also expanding Health811 services to connect veterans to specialized health resources and exploring partnerships to improve access to housing support for veterans in need. The Soldiers’ Aid Commission, which has supported veterans for over a century, continues to provide funds for health-related expenses, including medical equipment, home repairs, and personal needs.
